The words of " Kitty Neil" were written by John Francis Waller, an Irish lawyer, author, and poet, who was born in Limerick, 1810. He is highly educated, has written much, and for many years edited the Dublin University Magazine, to which he contributed largely under the nom deplume of "Jonathan Freke Slingsby." He is still a barrister in Dublin.
The music of the song is a favorite Irish melody, entitled " Huish the Cat from under the Table." |
